Director of Faith Formation,
Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Westfield NJ

The Role

Holy Trinity Parish is seeking an energetic and dynamic person to lead an established Faith Formation program for children in grades 1 through 10. The ideal candidate should have a strong Faith and be an actively practicing Catholic. The candidate will report directly to the Pastor, work closely with the Director of Youth Ministry and the Faith Formation Administrative Assistant, and attend all Parish staff meetings as necessary.

  • Provide families with baseline theological concepts to better understand and practice their faith

  • Make Catholicism accessible to Westfield area families

  • Build rapport among parish families

  • Create family activities centered around the Sunday Eucharist

  • Oversee the promotion of Faith Formation programs and events

  • Promote acceptance and inclusivity of the universal Catholic Church in our own community

  • Identify and call Catechists to Ministry and provide formation and development opportunities

The Expertise You Have

  • Practicing Catholic with strong theological background in the teachings of Jesus Christ

  • Experience working in a parish setting and/or teaching children in an academic setting 

  • Enthusiasm in researching and adopting new catechetical learning models

  • Ability to establish and adhere to a fiscally responsible budget

  • Proficiency delivering in-person and web-based communications and presentations (Zoom and Flocknote experience a plus)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • BA degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Education, or a related field

  • Executive-level presence with communication and organization skills to match

  • Ability to work independently and lead/manage Faith Formation employees, Catechists, aides, and volunteers

  • Ability to plan, manage, and execute a program calendar and schedule including Faith Formation Celebrations of the Eucharist

  • Relationship building and networking with parish staff as well as peers and Archdiocesan personnel

  • Inclusive and respectful of differing learning abilities and family situations
