We believe that the family is the domestic Church where our youth develop

o       Their faith,
o       Understanding of Church,
o       Formation of values.

The Catechetical Ministry of our parish is designed to assist and support these parents who are the primary catechists for their children.  Aware of the many demands of time on our families, we strive to provide catechetical opportunities that will nurture each person’s relationship with God and with the Church.

Registration is now open for our Fall Programs:

  • Sunday Morning Primary (Grades K-6)
  • Sunday Morning JH (Grades 7-8)
  • Monday Evening JH (Grades 7-8)
  • One on One Home Option (Grades 1-8)
  • Confirmation Classes (Grade 9)

Dear Faith Formation Families,

Registration for the 2017 Summer Faith Formation Program is now open!  This program option is designed to immerse your child in a week long intensive catechetical experience.  Each day the primary grades will attend classes which will consist of their grade level curriculum, drama, art appreciation, catechetical/team building games and Liturgy. Junior High students will use the “Chosen” curriculum from Ascension Press and attend additional classes in prayer, scripture and catechism.   During the week children will also have opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration and Mass.

The Junior High Session will take place the week of June 26-30 (Grades 7-8). The Primary Sessions (Grades 1-6) will take place the weeks of July 10-14 and July 17-21.  Registration is based on a first come first served basis and space is limited.  Please note that the hours of our summer program have changed.  Junior high hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-2:30 pm and primary grades will meet Monday-Thursday 8:45 am-2:45 pm.  Fridays for all three sessions will have an early dismissal at 12:30 pm.

All families registered in the primary summer intensive program must also commit to attending three (3) family events which will take place during the fall/winter.   You will register for these events during the week your child attends the summer program.  These catechetical gatherings are a required component of the summer curriculum.  (Please see the Summer Faith Formation Program booklet for more information.) All those registered in the Junior High Program must complete all other requirements as stated in the Junior High handbook.  Students will receive these handbooks during the summer program.

Due to the fact that so much of the grade level curriculum is covered each day, attendance is required for all five days of the program (no late arrivals, early dismissals).  We do not offer make up sessions for the summer program.  All absences due to illness will require a doctor’s note.  (Absences will be reviewed on an individual basis).

Please do not register your child for the summer option if you are aware that they will be unable to attend the entire week.  Holy Trinity offers other faith formation options for you to choose.  Our primary traditional program meets Sunday mornings (Oct-May) from 10:15 am-11:30 am and junior high on 12 Monday evenings from 7:15 pm-8:30 pm (Oct.-March).  We also offer a One-on-One at home program for grades 1-8 (Oct.-May).  Please contact the Faith Formation Office if you would like further information about these options.  We would be happy to assist you in determining the best program option for your child.

Preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion are a combination of family gathered sessions and home study which begins in the fall.  Please note that the Archdiocese of Newark requires two years of preparation for receiving the Sacraments.  There will be meetings in the fall for parents who have children receiving the Sacraments in 2017-2018.

For families who are new to our Faith Formation Program, please be sure to provide a copy of your child’s Baptismal Certificate with your registration form.  If you are transferring from another faith formation program please include a transfer letter from your previous parish.

We are looking forward to a wonderful summer of faith formation.  It is important to remember that our program is meant to complement each family’s practice of their faith.  Please attend Mass with your family each week as well as on Holy Days of Obligation.  There is no substitution for the Mass.  As you plan your family schedules each week do not forget to include Mass as a priority.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Office of Faith Formation if you have any questions or concerns.  We are here to assist you.  We can be reached Monday-Thursday 8:30 am-4 pm at (908) 233-7455.  We are located on the second floor of the Parish Center.  God bless you!

In Christ,

Michelle Angelo
